Useful tips on what to look out for in 2020
Be better prepared before heading to the MPIA Solar Roadshow 2020
While we wait
As of writing, the MPIA (Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association) Solar Roadshow 2020 which was scheduled for 11th March 2020 has been shifted to a later date of 23rd April 2020. I advise interested readers to keep yourself informed of the event updates by heading over to their official site.
The MPIA Solar Roadshow 2020 is open to the public and admission is free. If you were looking forward to the event and wanting to expose yourself to the solar PV world; here are 3 tips you should know while waiting for the MPIA Solar Roadshow 2020 to resume.

3 letters, N-E-M. (Residential solar / commercial & industrial solar)
Net Energy Metering (NEM) is a scheme by the Ministry to propel the adoption of solar PV in our nation. In a nutshell NEM allows solar PV system owners (yes, you need to own a system first) to OFF SET any excess generated electricity on a 1-to-1 ratio. This is a HUGE benefit which any solar PV adopter should consider applying for. However, not many people know that the current dateline for NEM is ONLY till end of 2020.
If you want to know more about NEM, you can download a NEM brochure HERE.

Our NEM brochure explains the mechanics and benefits
Double tax incentives (Commercial & industrial solar)
For businesses which qualify, you’re looking at up to ~48% off your commercial & industrial solar PV with double tax incentives (thanks to capital allowance & Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA)). Besides that, solar financing from UOB’s U-Solar programme and CIMB has really made solar PV much more accessible to businesses without a heavy upfront cost burden. Don’t forget to list these 2 options when shopping around for your business.

SEDA Malaysia (Residential solar / commercial & industrial solar / large scale solar)
SEDA’s role in promoting the deployment of sustainable energy measures is invaluable to the growth of solar PV in Malaysia today. Luckily for us, they have a lot of quality material for solar PV adopters who are unsure of today’s news on solar renewable energy. If you find the need to fact check certain information provided by some solar energy companies; head on over to SEDA’s portal for some cross referencing. It’s a great resource to have – you’ll also find the list of accredited solar PV installers on their site!
One last thing…
With that I hope that you’re much better prepared to enter the MPIA Solar Roadshow 2020 when it resumes. If you’re looking for multiple solar PV system quotations while shopping for a solar PV system – consider allowing ERS Energy to furnish you with a competitive PV system quotation. That way you’ll have a comparison before you enter the roadshow and are in a much better position to leverage a discount(possibly?) from solar energy companies. Good luck!
