PV system owners have the option to apply for the Net Energy Metering (NEM) scheme. NEM is implemented by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA) and aims to boost the solar uptake in Malaysia. NEM is available for solar PV system owners (domestic / commercial / industrial) and have until YEAR 2020 to successfully apply for NEM. This scheme helps pushes down the low cost of solar for houses even lower, making quicker returns.
The NEM scheme allows excess electricity generated from a solar PV system to be offset on a 1-TO-1 basis.
